Busy schedule for French films in the international arena

December and January are set to be action-packed for French films in foreign theaters. According to information from foreign distributors gathered by Unifrance – France's international film promotion agency – there are an impressive 155 releases slated for this period.

Topping the list of upcoming international releases are: "The Emperor's Journey" (aka "March of the Penguins") by Luc Jacquet, with 9 releases: Australia, Croatia, Italy, Finland, Mexico, Norway, Romania, UK, Thailand); "Merry Christmas" by Christian Carion (9 releases: Australia, Spain, Finland, Hong Kong, Quebec, Norway, UK, Russia, Singapore); "The Child" by Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne (8 releases: Argentina, Austria, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Taiwan), "Hidden" by Michael Haneke (7 releases: Germany, USA, Finland, Greece, Quebec, UK, Taiwan); and "Go, See, and Become" (aka "Live & Become") by Radu Mihaileanu (6 releases: Austria, Brazil, Spain, Hungary, Mexico, UK). Hot on the heels of these titles are: "36," "Kirikou and the Wild Beasts," "Transporter 2, "Sky Fighters," "Zaïna, Rider of the Atlas," "How Much Do You Love Me?" and "J’ai vu tuer Ben Barka."

French films should register fine results in international theaters for 2005, with results to be conveyed January 20, 2006, on the occasion of the 8th Rendez-Vous with French Cinema.
