"8 Women" has been selected to represent France at the 2003 Academy Awards. The film by François Ozon will compete at the nominations stage February 11, 2003.
The film follows in the footsteps of "Amelie," which was nominated in 5 categories last year.
A hit with audiences at home and abroad, "8 Women" has attracted 3.7 million spectators in France and over 2.3 million internationally. It has already picked up the Silver Bear for the Best Individual Artistic Contribution at the 52nd Berlinale, awarded to the film's entire female cast, and has been selected at many international festivals.
The film was produced by Fidélité Productions (France), with international sales handled by Celluloid Dreams.
