Movie attendance in France over the first six months of 2001 shows a rise of 10% compared to the same period in 2000.
According to initial estimations from France's Centre National de la Cinématographie, the month of June registered over 10 million spectators, bringing overall attendance figures since the beginning of the year to around 97 million admissions. This figure was boosted by the 3 million moviegoers attracted by the Cinema Festival on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd..The CNC also estimates that French cinema has secured 51% of the domestic market since the beginning of the year, against 34.3% in 2000.
