With the 1 million subscriptions milestone is now surpassed on VOD platforms, the online video market continues to grow: the increasing number of providers has led to a veritable race to acquire titles, while consumer habits are evolving and pirating remains widespread.
This fourth Digital Market News bulletin, reserved for UniFrance members, focuses on events in the digital distribution market in March and April 2021.
As was the case in previous months, the arrival of new players has shaken up the VOD sector: while the supply of providers intensified (starting in the USA, followed by the rest of the world), content supply has become segmented (notably due to an outright war over licenses).
In parallel, as each new market player seeks to invest in new titles, this has triggered an inflation in the production of original content made for these platforms. The stabilization phase expected in a market that has been expanding for several years thus seems more remote than ever.
