Short Film of the Month: March 2017

In what is now a monthly tradition, UniFrance is offering free viewing of a short film (documentary, drama, or animated film) that has been acclaimed at recent film festivals. This month we present Vers la tendresse by Alice Diop.

A genre often little-known by the mainstream public, French documentaries generate double their admissions abroad than in France.

Recently awarded the César for Best Short Film (ex-aequo with the fiction Mother(s)), Vers la tendresse testifies to the genre's excellent health. A winner of many awards and selected to screen several times in Spain and the United States, Alice Diop's film pursues its fine career.

The intimate exploration of the masculine territory of an urban high rise banlieue, Vers la tendresse is a sensitive film exploring the various ways virility is displayed.
