For its 7th edition, and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Françoise Dorléac, MyFrenchFilmFestival will pay tribute to this iconic actress.
Tomorrow, January 13, Unifrance will unveil the complete selection of feature films and short films to be showcased at the 7th edition of its online French film festival, MyFrenchFilmFestival.com. But before that, UniFrance has revealed in a preview announcement the presentation of a special tribute organized this year in honor of the late actress Françoise Dorléac, with the screening of a rare film segment.
This legendary actress, who died in tragic circumstances fifty years ago, is the subject of a special tribute in 4XD, a segment that has never previously been released from a short film commissioned by Unifrance in 1964. This film was produced to promote France, French cinema, and the new faces of the French movie industry, and was directed by Philippe Labro, a fledgling filmmaker at the time.
This 4-minute gem shot in black and white comes from the UniFrance archives. The stunning cinematography is by Willy Kurant (future director of photography for Jean-Luc Godard and Maurice Pialat) and features Françoise Dorléac dancing a boisterous mambo, made up to look like Greta Garbo. Film enthusiasts around the world will be able to view this film segment online at MyFrenchFilmFestival.com, held from January through February 13, 2017.
