Deniz Gamze Ergüven and Alice Winocour were honored at this year's AFI FEST, with their films presented with awards at the festival's closing ceremony held November 12 at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
French films have picked up a number of awards at the 2015 AFI FEST, the prestigious Californian festival hosted by the American Film Institute.
Mustang by Deniz Gamze Ergüven received the Audience Award in the New Auteurs section, while Disorder by Alice Winocour was honored with a Special Jury Mention for the film's direction.
Both of these directors and their key crew members were accompanied by Unifrance throughout the week-long event in California.
Another prize, the Grand Jury Award in the New Auteurs section, was won by Land and Shade, a minority co-production by France/Colombia/The Netherlands/Chile/Brazil, directed by César Augusto Acevedo.
