Synopsis
In the 1930s, a painter, an art critic, and a young photography student set out to retrace the footsteps of Paul Cézanne, who died in 1906. Fascinated by the work of the great Provençal master, they spend nearly sixty years studying his influences and techniques, forging an unbreakable friendship along the way. Looking for Cézanne chronicles this monumental and painstaking quest, which led to the publication of the artist’s catalogue raisonné and secured his place in the pantheon of the great masters. Directed by Anne Richard, this fascinating documentary offers an illuminating, distinctly Provençal immersion into the artistic process of the man hailed as the father of modern painting.
