Synopsis
Joseph, a young Breton fisherman, sees Rita again for the first time since their summer fling. Rita is working on a theatrical adaptation of the passionate letters of Abelard and Heloise, a legendary couple from the Middle Ages. Attracted to Rita but frightened by the idea of being impotent, Joseph gradually slips into the shadow of Abelard, the castrated monk from the 12th century.
