Synopsis
Noted for its footage of an actual childbirth, this is a movie about a kindly physician who tries to introduce modern medicine and sanitation to the residents of a small farming community. Trying to relieve their suffering during childbirth and trying to help them to prevent disease, he meets the age-old obstacle of superstition head-on.
