Les Amours de Manon Lescaut
Synopsis
During the reign of king Louis XV, a handsome student, Des Grieux, meets his charming cousin, Manon, just as she goes to the convent of Amiens to take the veil. It's love at first sight and the lovers decide to leave for Paris. After some delightful months, money runs short. Des Grieux is kidnapped by his father who holds him prisoner. Manon, left to her own devices, thinks she is a deserted woman. Attracted by luxury, she become Marquis of Boysson's mistress. Des Grieux escapes. Manon quits her degenerate ways to follow him. But, once again, money runs out. Des Grieux cheats at gambling and is arrested.
