Synopsis
Throughout his career, Antoine Vitez, theater director, translator, poet, has worked on the theme of Electre, employing the texts of Aeschylus and Sophocles, and also of the modern Greek poet Ghiannis Ritsos. Vitez has directed Sophocle’s drama on two occasions, with the same actress playing the part of Electre, once as a young woman, the second time as a mature woman. For Electre symbolizes woman’s strength to carry on no matter the circumstance… Vitez felt Electre living within himself: the desire for independence, to create, analyze, for social and spiritual commitment. But who knows Electre today? The film is an essay about the theater work of Vitez; therefore about his life, his being, his politics.
