Founded in 1957, the San Francisco International Film Festival is the longest-running film festival in the Americas and one of the United States’s best-loved and most widely admired cultural events. Over its first 50 years, the International has screened over 6,000 films from more than 100 countries to 2 million filmgoers, and has hosted thousands of world-class guests from Bette Davis and Spike Lee to Catherine Deneuve, Matthew Barney, Akira Kurosawa and Tilda Swinton. The Festival is known for its intelligent programming and for its sophisticated and discerning audiences.
