For short film acquisitions: I select 5 films each time Air Canada refreshes their inflight content. Out of the 5, 3 must be Canadian, 2 international. Prioritize festival films and award winners
Running time: 20 minutes
Types: All. Comedy - Fiction - Documentary - Animation
Version: English subtitles
License Period: In 2021 we are booking for 6 month licenses due to reduced passenger numbers because of COVID-19. Eventually, we will return to 4 months.
Broadcasting: In-flight rights.
Exclusivity: I book non-exclusively, so distributors and filmmakers can book with other airlines.
Presence at Festivals & Markets: Clermont-Ferrand, Trouville, Torino, and Regard film festivals.
Films bought per year, on average: In a regular year, we program 5 short films monthly, which equals 60 short films. In 2021, Air Canada is booking bi-monthly, so we will be booking 30 short films. In terms of French titles, I will book at least 6 French-Canadian short films, and approximately 3 – 4 short films from France.
They negociate with distributors rather than producers.
