Le Dahlia Noir

Le Dahlia Noir

A Feature film by Brian De Palma

Release in France : 08/11/2006

    Synopsis

During the forties, in Los Angeles, Bucky and Lee, two LAPD detectives, tackle a particularly difficult murder case. The atrociously mutilated body of a starlet, Betty Ann Short, has been discovered on a vacant lot. This crime keeps the whole country spellbound. Some are ready to do anything to benefit from it… or to hide their secrets.
What were the victim’s ties with the powerful Linscott family? What was her private life like, and who did she share it with? The investigation gets underway. Bucky and Lee enter this labyrinthe. All they can count on is each other. However, as they uncover information and become emotionally entangled with the affair, each will reveal his true self. Mystery, dissolute lifestyles, family secrets, hidden love affairs, vengeance – all the ingredients of drama are on hand. To have a chance at reaching truth, each must go to the far-reaches of himself.
Adapted from James Ellroy’s masterpiece, which was itself based on a true story, directed by a master of suspense, and starring an exceptional cast, here is The Black Dahlia. An absolute noir thriller, an unequalled example of its genre, The Black Dahlia plunges us into the heart of the dark world of an investigation where feelings, secrets, and manipulations merge, taking us right to the deepest part of the human soul.
