Eric Valli has directed two documentaries: "Chasseurs de miel," which won top awards in numerous film festivals and an International Documentary Association award in Los Angeles in 1989, and "Chasseurs des Ténèbres" (1990), also a winner of distinctions in various festivals and nominated for both the Emmy Awards and the Oscars. And yet Eric Valli isn't just a director, he is also a photographer and author. His photo reportages have been frequently exhibited both in France and in the U.S.A. and he is regularly published in National Geographic Magazine, Géo, the Sunday Times Magazine and Life. His first trip to Tibet was in the 1980s. He devoted several books to this country before going there to shoot "Himalaya – A Chief's Childhood," his third feature, which met with considerable success and was nominated for the 2000 Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category and also won the 2000 Cesar award for Best Music.
