Biography

Anne-Marie Etienne is the author of two plays, "Cette nuit ou jamais," directed by Pascal Légitimus in 1995, and "Une mesure d'avance" by Adrian Bryne in 1997. She directed the film "Un été après l'autre" in 1991, then worked on the screenplay of Nicole Garcia’s "Every Other Weekend" in 1990 and co-wrote "Kiss and Cry" (1993) by Florence Strauss. In 1999, she directed “Sooner or Later,” starring Philippe Torreton and Amira Casar. She directed her play "On ne refait pas l'avenir," starring Philippe Torreton and Pierre Cassignard, for the stage in September 2000. After studying for a diploma in Film and Modern Arts, Ariane Doublet attended the FEMIS film school, where she studied editing. She edited several fiction films, notably those by Vincent Dieutre ("Rome désolé" in 1995 and "Leçons de ténèbres" in 1999) and Philippe Faucon ("Mes 17 ans" in 1996 and "All Is Not Black" in 1997), and documentaries including "Au pays de Bernadette" (1994) by Solveig Anspach. In 1991 she co-directed her first feature, "Terre-Neuvas," which was awarded the Premier Prix at the Douarnenez Film Festival in 1993 and the Special Jury Prize at Nyons in 1994. Two short films followed: "La Petite parade" in 1995 (Jury Prize at the Gournay en Bray Film Festival) and "Jours d'été" in 1996, that she co-directed and edited. After "Stop la violence. Naissance d'un mouvement" (1999), selected for FIGRA in Lille and the Rueil Malmaison History and Current Events Film Festival, she made "Les Terriens.” The film focuses on the lives of farmers in a small village in the lead up to the total eclipse of August 11, 1999. Her latest film, “Les Sucriers de Colleville,” was released in France April 2004. Ariane Doublet has also been a member of the script reading committee of the Regional Association of Film and Audiovisual of Upper Normandy since 1996.
