For its third edition, MyFrenchFilmFestival.com, the online film festival organized by uniFrance Films, is partnering up with Le Jour le Plus Court Short Film Festival.
This week, on December 21, which is three weeks prior to the launch of MyFrenchFilmFestival, web users around the world will have the chance to discover the festival's selection of short films online free-of-charge. All films will be subtitled in eleven languages: Arabic, German, English, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish. When the festival is officially launched, from January 17 until February 17, 2013, viewers will be able to watch the same selection of short films as well as twelve feature films.
Held for the first time December 21, 2011, Le Jour le Plus Court Short Film Festival (translator's note: Le Jour le Plus Court translates as The Shortest Day of the Year) included 6,000 film screenings held in 350 cities around France, attracting over 1.5 million spectators for the 1,120 films programmed. Twelve other countries also took part in celebrating short films on the same day. This event brings a great boost to efforts to make culture more accessible by highlighting amateur cultural activities and creating links between amateurs and professionals. It provides an opportunity to discover great film directors of today and tomorrow.
