Unifrance President Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre has announced the appointment of Régine Hatchondo as Executive Director of the association.
This decision was ratified by the Unifrance’s Executive Committee, which is composed of 11 representatives from the association’s four Committees (Film Producers’, Exporters’, Artists’, and Short Filmmakers’ Committees).
Régine Hatchondo’s career history includes the position of manager of the Théâtre de Chaillot from 1988 to 1994, General Secretary of the Forum des Images audiovisual-multimedia center from 1994 to 2002, and General Secretary of the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, she joined the Paris City Hall and became the representative in charge of the city's newly inaugurated film project. Since May 2008, Ms Hatchondo has been the Mayor of Paris's cultural adviser.
The broadening of the role of Chief Representative (with the job title replaced by Executive Director) was approved in November 2008 at an Extraordinary General Assembly. Acting as a permanent representative of Unifrance, the future Executive Director will, with the agreement of the president and its executive committee, be responsible for implementing the policies of the association.
Régine Hatchondo will assume her new position on April 15, 2009.
