After Lyon, Cologne, Munich, and Versailles, this year’s Franco-German Film Meetings celebrate their 6th anniversary in Hamburg, from November 20 to 22.
An overview of the progress and benefits of Franco-German co-productions and the subject of VOD (video on demand) rights are on the menu for these upcoming meetings between French and German industry professionals.
A pitching session will offer French and German producers in search of co-production partners the opportunity to present participants five French and five German film projects selected by the event's official jury.
Unifrance will also host a meeting between young actors and actresses from both countries. The Up & Coming Stars initiative launched in Munich two years ago has been successfully continued, such as the latest Up & Coming Stars program held two weeks ago at the Rome International Film Festival.
Christophe Barratier is this year’s patron of the French delegation, which includes Nora Arnezeder, Anaïs Demoustier, Mati Diop, Adélaïde Leroux, Alexis Michalik, Nico Rogner, and Robinson Stévenin.
The director Jan Schütte is the patron of the German delegation, which includes the following artists: Maria Baümer, Paula Kalenberg, Florian Panzner, Alexander Scheer, Henriette Schmidt, Paula Schramm, and Kostja Ullmann.
Since the inception of the Franco-German Film Meetings and the signing of a co-production Mini Treaty, there has been a considerable rise in the number of co-productions, increasing from 3 in 1997 to 17 in 2007! Two of these films are slated for release in Germany in upcoming days: Il y a longtemps que je t’aime (I’ve Loved You So Long) and Faubourg 36 (Paris 36). Around twenty co-productions are currently in the pipeline for 2008.
