Margaret Menegoz appointed as new President of Unifrance
Margaret Menegoz was elected President of Unifrance Monday, June 2, 2003, by the association’s Board of Directors.
This election brings to an end the interim presidency of the association, which was entrusted to its Management Committee following the sudden death of former President, Daniel Toscan du Plantier on February 11 this year.
As Unifrance’s new President, Margaret Menegoz affirmed her desire to remain faithful to the work spearheaded by Daniel Toscan du Plantier.
Ms. Menegoz appealed for the involvement of all concerned in considering the new issues and challenges facing French cinema in international markets.
During this Board of Directors’ meeting, Humbert Balsan indicated his desire to become increasingly involved in the affairs and activities of the association, based on his wide knowlege of the countries of Europe and southern states.
This proposal was welcomed by Ms. Menegoz.
Jeanne Moreau and Philippe Carcassonne also called for the mobilization of Unifrance members in the time ahead and for the joining of forces in the association.
Margaret Menegoz, who paid her respects to the efforts of the Management Committee and the Unifrance team, has been elected President until June, 2004, at which time a new election will be held.
Margaret Menegoz is a producer, distributor and international sales agent (Les Films du Losange).
