The 4th Taiwan International Animation Festival is currently underway in Taipei (running from September 1 through 10, 2006), with “Kirikou and the Wild Beasts” by Michel Ocelot and Bénédicte Galup opening the event this year.
France boasts the strongest presence in the 2006 program. The animated filmmaker Jacques-Remy Girerd was festival consultant this year, and will be presenting a selection of short films produced by his animation studio Folimage. Thanks to assistance from the French Embassy, Bénédicte Galup, Jacques-Remy Girerd, and the director of the studio def2shoot, Cédric Babouche, will be present at the event. Last year’s festival attracted close to 60,000 spectators.
