For the first six months of 2002, the CNC has registered 99.6 million movie admissions and a market share of 41.4% for French films.
Movie attendance in France thus shows a rise of 4.4% compared to the first six months of 2001. The month of June saw 14.8 million spectators flocking to French theaters, a hike of 37% over the same month last year.
36 million spectators were registered during the three-day-long Cinema Festival, which was held earlier than last year (June 23,24 and 25 in 2002 and July 1, 2 and 3 in 2001).
French films' market share is holding firm at an excellent level, commanding 41.4% of admissions, even if this represents a slight decline compared to the exceptional figures recorded in 2001 (49.9% in the first six months).
