9 months after its release, the film by Christophe Barratier has just broken the million admissions barrier in Germany.
Released September 2 by Constantin Film on 138 prints, "Chorists" (also released as "The Chorus" and "The Choir") has slowly and steadily made its way to the million spectators mark, finally reached early June. This debut film by Christophe Barratier, sold by Pathé International, thus bears out its distributor's decision to boost its support of auteur films. The million admissions figure in Germany represents close to one quarter of all admissions to the film outside France, currently standing at 4.3 million spectators worldwide.
Despite extremely disappointing movie attendance figures in the country at this time, two other French films have succeeded in breaking into the Top 25 titles at the German box office. "A Common Thread" by Eléonore Faucher, released May 19 by Delphi Filmverleih on 24 prints, currently boasts close to 30,000 admissions and "Immortel" by Enki Bilal, released May 26 by Tiberius Film on 20 prints is credited with 25,000 spectators.
