The 21st Franco-German Film Meetings took place on October 10 and 11, 2023 at the Goethe-Institut Paris. Over 200 French and German professionals from the film and audiovisual industries attended the event!
The two-day event featured a number of highlights:
- An exclusive two-hour exchange between 12 young people from France and Germany and five production and distribution professionals (Tanja Meissner, Laurine Pelassy, Andreas Bareiss, Tom Dercourt, and Fabian Gasmia), as part of the partnership with the OFAJ (Office Franco-Allemand pour la Jeunesse) and the specific PREMIERE program;
- The opening panel ,orchestrated by Daniela Elstner, featured Olivier Henrard (CNC), Peter Dinges (FFA), and Laurence Farreng (European Parliament);
- A morning where Meetings participants had the opportunity to take part in working groups of 25 people focusing on the following themes: co-producing with Luxembourg, artificial intelligence, today's challenges in the production job market, and the question of intimacy on set. There was also a pitching session, in partnership with Forum Alentours;
- A dozen panels or keynotes involving more than 20 speakers and moderators tackling themes as diverse as inclusion, European cultural identity and sovereignty, ecology, platform practices, and the arrival of artificial intelligence in the audiovisual and film sectors.
Guests also had the opportunity to explore various exchange formats through two case studies - on an audiovisual co-production and a film co-production - and a participatory debate entitled "Storm Warning," in which moderator Fabian Gasmia addressed a wide range of topics and engaged the audience from the floor.
The Franco-German Film Meetings were also punctuated by a number of festive events, including a cocktail reception at the Comptoir Général and a Wednesday lunch in the courtyard of the Goethe-Institut, organized with the support of Cofiloisirs. Guests were also invited to the opening of the German Film Festival at L'Arlequin cinema, and to the Atelier Network evening afterwards, to round off these 48 Franco-German hours.
