The 74th Cannes Film Festival has just come to a close and its prestigious jury, presided by Spike Lee, presented its awards. UniFrance is thrilled to see French cinema feature so prominently as part of the announced prizes, as well as the numerous coproductions recognised during tonight’s closing ceremony.
For the second time in the Cannes Film Festival’s history, the Palme d’Or was awarded to a female filmmaker, French director Julia Ducournau for Titane, her second feature film, starring Agathe Rousselle and Vincent Lindon, produced by Kazak Productions, sold internationally by Goodfellas.
The Grand Prix was shared, one of both recipients being Asghar Farhadi for his film A Hero, produced by Memento Production and sold internationally by Memento International.
The Jury Prize was also a tie and won jointly by Nadav Lapid for his film Ahed’s Knee, produced by Les Films du Bal and sold internationally by Kinology.
The Best Director Award went to Leos Carax and his film Annette, produced by CG Cinéma and sold internationally by Kinology.
Over the last 12 days, many French films had their premiere and received awards in Cannes; UniFrance is delighted and would like to warmly congratulate all the awarded films and their crews.
UniFrance will work with all industry professionals in France and overseas over the next months to promote French cinema worldwide, and the latest awards will without a doubt enable our cinema to travel beyond borders and reach a very broad audience.
