The filmmaker Caroline Cherrier is one of six applicants selected to take part in the 2018 Francophone Writing Residency program for animated films held in Meknès, Morocco.
After receiving acclaim for her debut film Not Much, Caroline Cherrier represented France at the 2018 Francophone Writing Residency for Animated Films held in the Moroccan city of Meknès.
Co-founded in 2016 by the NEF Animation platform, the Institut Français in Meknès, and the Aïcha Foundation, this program offers the opportunity to a select number of French-speaking writers to take part in a one-month residency in Morocco aimed at fine-tuning the writing stage of their animated film projects.
The 3rd Writing Residency program took place from February 19 to March 22, 2018. The six participating writers were selected among applicants from French-speaking countries around the world. Participants benefit from a writing grant and supervision by a professional from the animation sector (this year given by the writer and producer of animated films, Delphine Maury) and an invitation to attend the Meknès International Animated Film Festival (FICAM) during the last week of their residency.
In 2018, the residency benefited from a partnership with the Festival Anima (with support from the SACD Belgique and Wallonie-Bruxelles Images), as well as the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), TV5 Monde, and the Instituts Français in Algeria, Morocco, and Paris.
