French short films didn't take a summer break this year and many were selected for festivals around the world.
Besides a considerable presence at A-list events such as the Venice International Film Festival and the Locarno Film Festival, French short films have distinguished themselves by their major presence in North America: 6 selected for the Montreal World Film Festival, 11 for the Rhode Island International Film Festival, and 16 for the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival.
While still across the Atlantic, we note the strong presence of French cinema at the São Paulo International Short Film Festival, with no less than 35 films selected, as well as a carte blanche to Joséphine Derobe. On this occasion, the internationally renowned filmmaker and stereographer will also give a masterclass about 3D.
Last but not least, Japan is the country where French creativity has been the most conspicious, with 45 short films presented at the Hiroshima International Animated Film Festival.
