Escape before judgment.
Winner of the Golden Bear award for Best Short Film at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival, The Runaway is a poignant tale of a struggling young teenage girl living in a home for juvenile delinquents in Marseilles. Accompanied to court by a social worker, she will be tried for her past offenses, hoping that the efforts she has made will be recognized by the children's magistrate. In his debut short film, Jean-Bernard Marlin throws the spotlight on the hardships faced by juvenile offenders and the limitations of a judicial system that is poorly tailored to their needs.
