Invited by uniFrance films to the Mumbai Film Festival to present his film Grigris, Chad director Mahamat-Saleh Haroun reports back about his successful trip.
"Thanks to uniFrance, I was able to go to India to attend the Mumbai Film Festival. It was my first trip to India and I got a lot of out of it. I was thrilled by the experience.
I took the opportunity to look for locations for my next film, Indian Passion. It's a story that takes place between N’djaména, capital of Chad, and Mumbai.
Déborah Benattar's help was invaluable; what's more, I hope to work with her company for the executive production of the Mumbai film. I also intend to return to Mumbai at the beginning of 2014 to continue my research. The imminent arrival of a permanent uniFrance representative in Mumbai will be an added asset.
My meetings were beneficial and promising. Many contacts with professionals after the first screening of Grigris: an Indian actress interested by my new project, a composer open to a future collaboration, and lastly a young Indian filmmaker who would like Pili Films, our Parisian production company, to co-produce his second feature film. It all goes to say that this trip was extremely useful.
Many thanks to uniFrance and to all the team present at the festival."
