Synopsis
Versailles, 1667. Louis XIV was 28 years old. To subdue the nobility and impose his absolute power once and for all, he launched the construction of Versailles... like setting a trap. Louis XIV was a young king haunted by a childhood trauma, the Fronde, a rebellion by the nobility against his father, Louis XIII. He would prove to be an extraordinary political strategist, manipulative and Machiavellian, and would ‘invent’ Versailles to keep the nobility away from Paris, keep them under control, and gradually transform the château into a gilded prison. He was also capable of romantic passions. But how do you live them out when you are the greatest king in the world?
