Synopsis
In a village near Tokyo in 1895, Gisaburo, a rickshaw driver, comes home each night exhausted after his day's work and falls asleep without "honoring" his young wife Seki, who is left feeling frustrated. Young Toyoji returns to the village after serving military service and falls in love with Seki. One night, they make love, sparking a violent passion that leads the lovers to strangle Gisaburo after getting him drunk. They throw his body into a well in a nearby forest. A Franco-Japanese film.
