French films win awards at Montreal

The 37th Montreal World Film Festival closed its doors on September 1, with French productions picking up a string of awards.

Best Actress Award:
Rachael Blake and Lucie Debay for Melody by Bernard Bellefroid (Belgium-France-Luxembourg)

Special Mention (Short Film category):
Rabbit by Laure de Clermont (France)

Silver Zenith Award for First Fiction Feature Film:
Année prochaine by Vania Leturcq (Belgium-France)

Best Documentary:
No Land's Song by Ayat Najafi (Germany-France)

Special Mention from the Ecumenical Jury:
Melody by Bernard Bellefroid (Belgium-France-Luxembourg)

Special Grand Prize of the Americas for their exceptional contribution to the cinematic arts:
Claude Lelouch (photo, accompanied by Serge Losique)
Alain Resnais (posthumous)
