Synopsis

The Roux who are cattle herders, look with a jaundiced eye upon their neighbours, the Barcarin who are attempting to grow rice on the land, and fear that if there is much expansion, it will drive the cattle away from the camargue district. The family rivarly does not prevent the Roux' son and Barcarin' daughter from dreaming about love, until one day a young engineer arrives who brings to a head the young girl ambition, which is to go and live in the city. Now, however, the "spaniard", a former bullfighter now working for Roux, finds Myra, a gyspy dancer he had once known, and tries to break up this young couple's plans by blackmail...
