BiographyYves Hanchar's directing career began in 1981 with his short film "La Mort de monsieur Goulouga." Several other short fiction films followed, one of which, "Voisinage" (1984), was nominated for an Academy Award. He also made three documentaries, "Lagune" (1984), "A vous de jouer" (1985) and "Maitres du monde" (1989). His first feature film, "The Chess Game" (1994), stars Catherine Deneuve, Pierre Richard and Denis Lavant. The film was selected at many international film festivals, including Los Angeles, Karlovy Vary and Berlin, and won the Grand Prix at the Flanders International Film Festival. In 1999, Hanchar directed "En vacances," which was released in French theaters in 2000. |
