Denmark in the 16th century. Hendrik Goltzius is a famous painter and engraver of erotic works. He would like to open a printing business so as to publish illustrated books. He hence asks for help from the Margrave (Marquis) of Alsace, to whom he promises an extraordinary book with images and stories from the Old Testament bringing together the erotic tales of Lot and his daughters, David and Bathsheba, Samson and Delilah, Saint John the Baptist and Salome. To make the offer even more appealing, he also suggests that these erotic stories be staged for the Margrave's court.
