Review of "Extrasystole" by Eduardo Mórlan
Eduardo Morlan has been a member of the Social Networks Jury since the first edition of the festival. This year, in celebration of the festival's 5th anniversary, we have given him carte blanche to review the short films in competition.
Today's review:
France, 2013
Directed by Alice Douard.
Color, 35’45''
Sudden and Irrepresible Interest in a Young Woman.
Rating: 4/5
Similar to "The Return" in its main but subdued theme, “Extrasystole” is a nice exercise in analyzing the most hidden side of the human soul and how someone discovers their real way to feel about others,
“Extrasystole” is a nice opera prima which allows the director AD to know that she is in the right track and needs to improve some flaws but also she has assets as a filmmaker.
Screenwriting is the main thing to be polished in order to go beyond… and AD has the necessary skills, instinct, and intuition to succeed. “Extrasystole” is a correct, subtle and tender film in the end and a good choice for this edition of MyFFF.
