Synopsis
Around 1523 Benvenuto Cellini, a talented but penniless goldsmith's apprentice, arrives in Rome. He meets with success under Pope Clement VII, only to fall into disgrace for his spendthrift ways under the next Pope, Paul III. Saved from decline by the King of France, who appoints him royal jeweller, Cellini ends his days with the heroic casting of the bronze Presus.
