Synopsis
"On May 1971, the Simiri people in Niger attempted to fight an invasion of locusts, known as the bush Genii, by using, perhaps for the very last time, the archaic drums, Tourou and Bitti. But for three whole days, "the genie horses" danced in vain... On the fourth evening, the sound technician Moussa Hamidou and myself as cameraman got directly involved. Thus a "strong moment" in a possession rite was shot, in a single take, making this a test of first-person ethnographic filmmaking."
