Free screening: "Junior," Julia Ducournau's first short

While Raw is currently enjoying a terrific international career, following on from worldwide critical acclaim unprecedent for a French genre film, re(discover) Julia Ducournau's first film: her short Junior (2011).

Currently in French and international theaters after a highly eventful year, during which the film traveled the world and provoked the fear & awe of critics and spectators alike, Julia Ducournau's debut feature is now enjoying a fine international career.

Five years ago, the young filmmaker, who had just graduated from La fémis, already received Cannes honors when her short film Junior was selected for Cannes International Critics' Week. Unclassifiable and boundary-breaking like her later feature, Junior recounts the tale of the metamorphosis of a teenage girl, portrayed by a very young Garance Marillier, who would later become Raw's star.

A subtle mixture of fantasy and comedy, Junior is a brilliant illustration of Julia Ducournau's talent for genre-shifting fiction.
