Germany: presentation of the Distribution Aid Award

(2/5/10)

Welcome has picked up the Distribution Aid Award offered jointly by Unifrance and the MFG to support the distribution of a French film in Germany.

At a ceremony held January 27 at the French Institute in Berlin in the presence of Philippe Lioret and Vincent Lindon, Welcome's German distributor Arsenal Filmverleih was presented with a check for €20,000.

This award was announced at the 27th Tübingen-Stuttgart French-Langauge Film Festival in November 2009. This festival has now undergone a change of leadership, with Christopher Buchholz replacing the former festival director Andrea Wenzek on February 1st.

For the 11th consecutive year, Unifrance and the MFG (the Baden-Wurtemberg Film Fund) each allocated €10,000 to finance this award, which provides support to a film's release in Germany.
Welcome hit German screens February 4, opening on 35 prints.
