One month after hitting Moroccan screens on May 3, Laila Marrakchi's first feature, "Marock," continues to attract strong audience interest.
With 76,000 spectators registered to date (despite kicking off on a modest 6 prints), the film is now set to cross the 100,000 admissions mark. Portraying the life of wealthy, carefree teenagers in Casablanca, "Marock" has generated strong reactions in the local press and on the Internet. It is an unexpected triumph for the film's delighted director, who was selected at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard Section. This film, released in Morocco by Sheherazade Films, benefits from support from Unifrance and the CNC.
