MIFA 2017: UniFrance and the AFCA renew their partnership
For the second year, the MIFA is offering producers of French short films a special registration rate of €248 (taxes included), with the aim of supporting the development of these companies and facilitating their access to the film market.
This special rate is offered exclusively to production companies which comply with all of the following criteria:
- The company is the majority-producer of a short film
- The company has never produced a feature film on a budget of over €1.5 million
- The company has never produced a television series (excluding web-based series and series of short programs, such as collections)
Production companies with projects for feature films, television series, or 26-minute single-episode programs that are currently in development are eligible for this rate, provided that the criteria set out above are met.
While complying with these criteria, eligible production companies may only benefit from this special rate for a maximum of three consecutive years.
In addition, production companies with a film selected in a festival competition in the "Short Film" category in 2017 will automatically benefit from this special rate and are not required to meet the criteria set out above.
The AFCA - Association Française du Cinéma d'Animation, in partnership with the MIFA, will serve as the key contact organization for this operation, and will centralize all applications via a name-specific registration form to be completed online.
Production companies have until Friday, April 14, 2017, to lodge their applications.
Those companies which are not eligible for this special rate may nonetheless benefit from the "Early Birds" rate offered until February 28, 2017.
NB: This offer is limited to two accreditations per production company. Companies must complete a separate registration form for each request.
