Mata Hari, a beautiful Javanese dancer, became a spy for Germany in 1914. On the orders of a certain Ludovic, she leads François Lassalle to her place with the aim of stealing precious documents from him. She accomplishes her mission, but falls in love with the officer. She has to undertake a new mission. François, desperately jealous, breaks off with her. After initially hiding out in Spain, Mata Hari returns to France in the hope of finding her lover. Caught by a German patrol, François is killed. Betrayed by the Germans, Mata Hari is shot in the Vincennes trenches.
