Après la gauche

Après la gauche

A Feature film by Jérémy Forni

Produced by Compagnie des Phares et Balises

Release in France : 01/06/2011

    Synopsis

We are the Mitterand, AIDS and mass unemployment generation. We are a generation searching for more than just our bearings because we are a generation searching for ourselves. A generation of the image which knows full well the power and corruption of the media. A generation raised on the 8pm news by parents who can now no longer gauge our distress about the world they bequeath to us.

The film tries to respond to this fundamental question by talking with the great figures of contemporary thought. They offer a thorough diagnosis of the left today, underlining the progress and hopes inspired by social struggle, and forcefully reaffirm the necessity of utopian thinking.

From the disappearance of the USSR to the latest financial crisis, Après la gauche is a journey through 20 years that have shaken the left. It is, above all, an act of resistance.
