Richard Cruzot is a forty-year-old broker who has built his fortune and reputation by speculating on the world's financial markets, profit being his only ethic and cynicism his only virtue. Drunk on success, he falls from his piedestal when the financial crisis arises. He then decides to turn his back on a society ruled by ideals that are no longer his and sets out to find redemption there where exterior signs of wealth have no importance, there where one must confront oneself... This journey to mystical limits leads him to ask the extistential question about the meaning and value of life on Earth.
