Synopsis
Alice, ou les Désirs is the first part of La Trilogie Amoureuse that will consist of three films whose plotlines follow on one from the other, with several years interval between each. The characters will reappear, led by three female protagonists from different generations: Alice, 25 years old, Camile, fortyish, and Isabelle, approaching 60.
La Trilogie Amoureuse focuses on the couple and love set against a background of open practices far removed from the traditional couple pattern.
In this first feature, love arises from an erotic situation. Little by little, Alice is led to act out her fantasies. Love only appears as the story unfolds, although it doesn't stop Alice from continuing to enjoy the new sensations that she's discovered.
The progression of feelings of love from one film to the next fits into contexts that, although not traditional, don't become the films' subjects; they are merely psychological settings. For Alice, sadomasochism merely reveals an initiation and a renaissance to her love life.
