Synopsis

The Time That Remains is a film that is partly autobiographical, constructed around four episodes that left their mark on the life of a family, my own, from 1948 until now.

The film is inspired by my father's personal notebooks, and begins when he was a resistance fighter in 1948. It is also based on my mother's letters to members of her family who were forced to leave the country.

Mixing personal memories of them and with them, the film creates a portrait of the daily life of these Palestinians who remained in their native lands and were labeled "Arab-Israelis," living like a minority in their own country.
