Jerry begins to think that a local power plant is melting his brain, and, setting out to sabotage the plant, accidentally magnetises himself. He goes on to see his friend Mike, who works at the local video store, 'Be Kind Rewind', owned by Mr. Fletcher. The failing store soon runs into even more problems, as every tape rented is then returned, with the patrons complaining that they are all blank. Eventually Jerry realises that Mike is magnetised, and that he has accidentally erased all the tapes. Panicking, the pair realise that should Mr. Fletcher find out, Jerry could well lose his job. Unable to come up with a solution, they suddenly have the brainwave of remaking all of the films that the store's most loyal customer, Miss Kimberley decides to rent. Passing off their new, 'improved' versions soon make them local celebrities, until it is revealed that their films violate copyright law.
