February 1988, in the middle of the Iran-Irak war. Ako, a young Kurd, dreams of fleeing the country. His wife Selma refuses to do so while her ailing father is still alive. Drafted into Saddam Hussein’s army, Ako is sent to the front. A soldier in spite of himself, the young man tries in vain to sustain the “right wound” that would get him demobilized. One day he receives orders to take the corpse of a war martyr back to the defunct’s family. He’s accompanied in this mission by an Arab cab driver.
A Kurd, an Arab and, on the cab roof, the martyr’s coffin draped with an Iraqi flag. This strange convoy crosses the country from South to North. Their route takes them to the mountains, Kurd territory. Perhaps this will provide Ako the opportunity to at last flee the country…
